Norman: A Miniature Pinscher Chihuahua Mix – This Week’s Rescue Pet Story
by Caroline Mitchell, Contributing Editor
Hi, I’m Norman, a miniature pinscher chihuahua mix.
I love playing with my buddy, and long walks on the beach.
I love licking the inside of other dogs’ mouths because the flavor tastes good.
I live with people who love me, and pet me every second of the day.
I live right next to the beach, perfect for long walks!
How did this happen?
How did I get here?

Norman at the Beach
One year ago, I ran away from home.
My owners didn’t realize I was missing for a whole day.
My owners were never mean to me, but they didn’t care about me very much.
They never took me to the vet, they let me wander around outside all day, and they never wanted to play with me.
After I ran away, I was crossing the street to see if the beach was over there.
The only thing that was next to me was a big car coming towards my face and I had no time to move.
I got hit!
I flung off the road!
Gosh that Hurt!
After about thirty minutes of lying in a puddle of pain, someone found me and took me to the hospital.
The hospital took such good care of me!
After all of the care I got, I was still in pain.
I was not able to pee, or walk because I broke my pelvis.
A few days later, the hospital found my owners.
Once again, they didn’t care.
They signed a form to give me to the animal shelter.
Hours flew by and suddenly a nice woman picked me up with her warm soft hands on my head.
Even though I was already in pain, this seemed to relieve half of it.
I wished this was my owner!
She brought me to her house… right next to the beach!
It hurt to move, so it would be a while before I could walk again.
I was put in a cage next to the living room where all of these girls were surrounding my cage.
A normal dog would hate that, and feel uncomfortable.
I enjoyed it.
After weeks and weeks, I was finally feeling normal.
My owner was a vet, so she took care of me.
The first thing I did was take a walk on the beach with her family’s two other dogs, Ting, and Tuna!
They are the best!
After all that has happened to me, I have learned that everything happens for a reason.
By the way, what is a miniature pinscher chihuahua mix? It’s a dog. I’m just a dog.
