Sweet, Loveable Bengie, a Rescue Story
by Ruth Garrett
Bengie is one of the sweetest and loveable dogs you’ll ever meet.
He was a rescue dog wandering the streets of Puerto Rico after the devastating hurricane a couple of years ago.
Animal control found Bengie and rescued him.
We are so glad they did.
I saw his picture on the Internet and applied to adopt him from Lucky Dog Rescue site.
Several people applied to adopt him on his way to the United States from Puerto Rico, but I was the lucky one that got approved!
Bengie is my second rescue dog.
Sadly, the first dog, Barkley, passed away a few years ago, but will always remain in our hearts.
He was so loved and a family favorite, but I still had a lot of love to give another dog who might not have enough.
After Barkley, a relatively a big dog, I was looking for a dog who was smaller and Bengie caught my eye!
He was small, had a cute little pink nose, a golden, brownish tail and floppy ears.
He was just the cutest little thing ever!
I was on the computer looking for a dog and saw Bengie.
I ended up adopting him from Lucky Dog Rescue and found my cute, furry loveable friend.
When he arrived in the United States, we picked him up from PetSmart.

There were many other adopted dogs with their new families.
It was a very happy and cute day.
Of course, there were times when Bengie was scared and unsure of himself.
His environment had changed, and different people surrounded him.
However, it didn’t take him long to fit right in with the family and become very comfortable.
I chose to keep the name he was given, Bengie, because it was something he was familiar with, and he had already been through a lot of different changes.
Bengie loves belly rubs and really loves attention!!
He is so silly when, out of nowhere, he gets full of energy and starts running all around the house for quite a while.
He eventually tires himself out and lies down.
I’m so glad I could help Bengie by providing a loveable family after all he had been through!
