Last month, I told you about my rescue pet, Ting.
Now, do you want to hear more about Ting?
I hope you do!
There’s one thing I forgot to mention in my last story.
Ting has lymphoma, a kind of cancer.
When we first figured out he had lymphoma, it was the day after Christmas last year.
We came home from my grandpa’s house and Ting was suddenly not feeling well.
Both of my parents are vets, so they quickly looked him over.
My Dad did an ultrasound on him on our kitchen table and found the cancer in his spleen and lymph nodes.
Sadly, lymphoma cannot be treated.
My mom gave Ting a lot of chemo medicine every week for 6 months.
He is still battling cancer but feeling like a normal dog.
Ting still plays in the yard, chases lizards, sleeps with my sister at night and snuggles with me on the couch every day.
At some point this year, he will start to feel sick again.
Then we will have to put him through one more batch of chemo.
After that round of medicine, when he gets sick again, there is not much we can do but love and appreciate the amount of time we got with Ting.
Now let’s talk about Ting’s favorite things to do!
First, he likes to go for a long walk on the beach where he can smell everything in the seaweed, and then pee on it!
He also likes to dig holes in the sand and they lay in them.
He gets lots of pets from me and my sisters when we are at the beach.
Ting is not a huge fan of the water, but he loves to go cool off in the river and swim if he gets too hot.
He’s not brave enough to go in the ocean waves.
He likes the idea of going on the boat with us because he can sit on my lap, but he gets really motion sick so sometimes he gets sick.
Now my mom has to give him medicine before we go on the boat so he doesn’t feel dizzy.
He also gets car sick, so we can’t take him on any road trips.
I would not change anything about Ting.
He is the best dog we could ever have, and I am so grateful for how lucky we are to have him.
